Three teenagers were taken to hospital after falling from a jumping castle that was lifted into the air by a powerful gust of wind near Geelong, Australia.
The inflatable, which had an attached slide, reportedly rose about four metres during the incident at Bannockburn on Saturday.
A girl was flown to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne with back injuries, while two other teenagers were taken to Geelong Hospital with injuries including damage to their arms, legs and backs. All three were reported to be in a stable condition.
The circumstances of the incident were being examined, with the sudden gust believed to have caused the jumping castle to become airborne.
A local jumping-castle hire operator said the industry was governed by guidelines rather than specific regulations. She said she had dismantled another inflatable at a nearby event that day because of concerns about high winds.
