Two people were seriously injured in a Fort Worth hit-and-run, with police arresting a 22-year-old man who was allegedly trying to leave the scene.
Officers were called to the 5700 block of Crowley Road at about 12.40am on Saturday, September 19, after reports of a crash. Tiffany Chapman, 48, and Dione Gusman, 32, were taken to hospital in serious condition.
The suspect, identified as Yoriel Cabrera, was detained as he attempted to flee, according to Fort Worth police. He has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing bodily injury and intoxication assault with a vehicle resulting in serious bodily injury.
Cabrera’s booking photograph shows blood on his face. Police told Fox 4 that he said he had been injured by people with whom he had been playing pool before the crash.

Chapman told Fox 4 from her hospital bed that she suffered two broken legs, a punctured and collapsed lung and a broken rib. She has undergone surgery and has plates and screws in her right knee.
She said she and her friends saw Cabrera stumbling towards his vehicle outside a pool hall before the car moved towards them.
“I hear the screeching of tyres, and I looked up, and there were headlights coming towards me,” Chapman said.
She said Gusman was thrown about 20ft by the impact and knocked unconscious.
Chapman said she had forgiven Cabrera but wanted him prosecuted to the full extent of the law. “To be 22 years old and just throw your life away like this is crazy,” she said.
Court records show Cabrera was released from the Tarrant County Jail on September 21 after posting bond.
