Engineering student Marco Tapia has been named as the man shot dead during a home invasion in Glen Alpine, in Sydney’s south-west.
Emergency services were called to a property on Mount Sugarloaf Drive at about 3.40am on Tuesday, September 1, after reports of an intrusion.
NSW Police said officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command found a man suffering from a gunshot wound inside the house. He died at the scene.
The suspected offenders had left shortly before police arrived and remain unidentified. A crime scene has been established, with detectives from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad assisting with the investigation.
Police said Mr Tapia was believed to be in his twenties. His identity had not been formally confirmed when officers issued their initial statement.
