A woman has suffered life-threatening injuries after being attacked by a dog in Port Richey, Florida, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies were called to the area of Sandstone Lane at about 2.15pm on Friday, 16 October, following a report of an animal bite.
Emergency responders took the woman to a local hospital, where she was receiving treatment for serious injuries.
Investigation into Port Richey dog attack
Animal control officers have been notified and investigators are working to establish what happened before the attack.
The woman’s identity has not been released. Authorities have not said who owns the dog or confirmed whether it has been secured by animal control or law enforcement officers.
The investigation by the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office remains ongoing.
