An overdue national inquiry into women’s health has received a flood of submissions describing trauma, persistent pain, medical misogyny and a lack of care after childbirth.
Women contributing to the inquiry have shared accounts of feeling overlooked and unimportant within the healthcare system, with many calling for meaningful and lasting change.
The submissions highlight concerns about how women’s pain and health problems are treated, as well as the support available to them following childbirth.
Together, they present a picture of women seeking better recognition, care and accountability across the health system.
