A video showing a female heckler being pulled by her hair as she was removed from Nigel Farage’s Reform UK conference speech in Birmingham has prompted condemnation from within the party and a police appeal for the woman to come forward.
The incident took place at the National Exhibition Centre on Friday afternoon, during a keynote address repeatedly interrupted by protesters. Footage circulating online appeared to show members of the audience becoming involved as the woman was escorted from the hall.
Reform’s home affairs spokesman Zia Yusuf condemned the behaviour, while the force responsible for policing the event urged anyone affected or with information about what happened to contact officers.
The protester was among women who stood during Mr Farage’s speech holding a banner reading “Reform works for billionaires”. They were met with calls of “out” from parts of the audience before security moved to remove them.
Mr Farage appeared to laugh during one interruption and said: “We’ve got a screamer. Oh dear.” He later described the disruption as “boring, boring, boring”.
Climate Resistance said it was responsible for the protest and claimed demonstrators had shouted: “Nigel, you’re bankrolled by billionaires.” Greenpeace separately claimed responsibility for a banner displayed during deputy leader Richard Tice’s speech.
West Midlands Police also clarified that the start of Mr Farage’s address had been delayed at Reform UK’s request, rather than on the advice of counter-terrorism officers. The force said Counter Terrorism Policing had not been involved in delivering the party’s 2026 conference.
Further protesters were removed during the speech, which took place as Reform faced questions over allegations concerning foreign political funding. The party has denied wrongdoing.
