Brisbane Lions players and staff will wear black armbands in memory of former Fitzroy player Ian Miller, who died on Monday evening aged 76.
The tribute was confirmed by Lions media, with the team recognising Miller’s contribution to Fitzroy during the 1970s.
Known affectionately as “Serge”, Miller joined Fitzroy in 1974 as a 24-year-old from Perth. Before moving to the club, he had been part of a WAFL premiership-winning side in 1968, received All Australian selection in 1972 and won the Sandover Medal that same year.
A versatile half-forward who also played occasionally as a rover, Miller made 80 appearances for Fitzroy between 1974 and 1977, kicking 33 goals.
