Anne Hathaway has revealed that her doctor advised her not to appear on Hot Ones while promoting her new film, after she became pregnant and was warned she could go into early labour.
The 43-year-old actress discussed the decision during an appearance on the Talk of the Townsends podcast, explaining that she had hoped to take part in the spicy-wing interview series as herself.
Hathaway appears in Verity, a film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel, in which her character goes on a press tour and features on Hot Ones. Hathaway said she ate the first three wings for real while filming the scene before switching to dummy wings.
Having already taken part in the programme for the film, she had wanted to repeat the experience during the promotional campaign for Verity, saying it “just made sense”.
“But then I got pregnant, and my doctor said I couldn’t do it because I might go into early labor,” she said.
Hathaway added: “So I still haven’t done the gauntlet yet. I’m not sure when that’s gonna happen. Maybe next year.”
She first announced her pregnancy in June. Hathaway and her husband, Adam Schulman, are also parents to sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, six.
Verity is due to be released in cinemas on October 2.
