Arsenal and Chelsea are monitoring Como centre-back Jacobo Ramón after the 21-year-old’s progress in Serie A brought him back into the thinking of several major clubs.
Ramón joined Como from Real Madrid in 2025 and has since established himself more firmly in first-team football. His development has also prompted Madrid to consider exercising an option to bring him back.
Arsenal and Chelsea track Como defender
A report by Diario AS identifies Arsenal and Chelsea as the Premier League clubs currently showing the strongest interest in Ramón.
Real Madrid could re-sign the defender for €9 million at the end of the season. The Spanish club sold him to Como for €2.5 million but retained 50 per cent of his rights.
Ramón is understood to be prioritising regular football. He has rejected the prospect of returning to Madrid merely to become a fourth-choice centre-back and is said to want to remain an important player for Como before deciding on his future next summer.
The defender came through Real Madrid’s academy after joining at the age of eight and made his senior debut earlier in 2025. The club officially confirmed his transfer to Como in July of that year.
For Arsenal, Ramón represents a young defender already accustomed to senior football and to playing in a possession-based system. His ability to contribute to building play from the back could fit the qualities valued by Mikel Arteta.
Chelsea are also watching the situation, although Ramón’s preference for a clear route to meaningful minutes could prove significant. Any club seeking to sign him may need to offer assurances over his role and development.
Madrid’s buy-back arrangement remains the main complication. The €9 million clause would allow them to regain control of a defender whose value has increased since his move to Italy.
There is a similar precedent involving Como and Madrid. The Spanish club recently agreed for Nico Paz to remain in Italy for another season while keeping a future buy-back option, allowing the young player to continue developing before his longer-term position is reconsidered.
Ramón’s immediate focus appears to be Como, but Arsenal and Chelsea could turn their interest into a more formal pursuit as the next summer transfer window approaches.
