Anthony Albanese will spearhead Australia’s bid for a two-year term on the United Nations Security Council, arguing that smaller players can help drive reform.
The Australian prime minister is expected to lead efforts to secure the country’s place on the council, with the campaign focused on the role middle powers can play in reshaping the international body.
Mr Albanese said smaller countries could contribute to efforts to reform the Security Council, rather than leaving change solely to its most powerful members.
