Jude Bellingham is expected to sign a new Real Madrid contract in the coming weeks, dealing a significant blow to Manchester City’s hopes of bringing the England midfielder back to the Premier League.
The 23-year-old’s existing agreement runs until 2029, but talks are understood to be progressing over an extension that could keep him at the Bernabéu until 2030 or 2031. Improved financial terms are also reportedly being discussed.
Bellingham has established himself as one of Real Madrid’s most important players since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2023. He has made a strong start to the current campaign, recording three goals and two assists in eight appearances.

A report from Fichajes claims Bellingham is not interested in a move to Manchester City and is instead poised to commit his future to the Spanish club.
Since arriving in Madrid, he has made 140 appearances and scored 46 goals, while helping the club win five major trophies, including La Liga and the Champions League. He has also continued to play a central role under José Mourinho.
Those performances have encouraged Real Madrid to act before uncertainty over his future can develop. The proposed extension would further strengthen the club’s position over a player who is already tied down for several years.
Manchester City were linked with Bellingham during the summer as part of their plans to reshape the midfield. However, the club have since invested heavily in that area, while the midfielder’s apparent desire to stay in Spain would make any approach considerably more difficult.
Bellingham’s physicality and versatility would suit the Premier League, but Real Madrid have no financial need to sell and he appears settled at the Bernabéu. A long-term renewal would leave City with little realistic route to a deal.
For now, City may have to continue monitoring the situation rather than making Bellingham central to their future plans, with Real Madrid increasingly confident of retaining one of their leading players.
