Chelsea are facing renewed transfer interest in Josh Acheampong, with several European clubs reportedly monitoring the highly rated young defender.
The 20-year-old has yet to establish himself as a regular starter at Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea have consistently regarded him as a player they want to retain. Liverpool and Real Madrid have previously been linked with the England Under-21 international, while the club have viewed him as untouchable.
That stance is being tested by continued interest in Acheampong, which has reportedly caused concern at Chelsea. Spanish outlet AS claims that manager Xabi Alonso still considers the defender an important part of his plans for the season.

Bayern Munich are also understood to be among the clubs interested in Acheampong, adding to the competition for his signature should Chelsea become open to an approach.
Acheampong’s future is becoming a more pressing issue as Chelsea struggle for consistency. The club suffered a 3-0 defeat by Brentford and have conceded 12 goals in their opening five Premier League matches, leaving them with the division’s worst defensive record.
The situation could increase the pressure on Chelsea to convince their young players that their careers will develop best in west London. Acheampong has significant interest from elsewhere, despite not yet securing a regular place in the team.
Chelsea have also endured frequent managerial changes in an effort to reverse the team’s decline. With the club under pressure to improve, retaining one of their most promising young talents may become increasingly difficult.
