Leeds United have no intention of entertaining offers for captain Ethan Ampadu despite renewed speculation linking the Wales international with a return to Chelsea.
Ampadu has established himself as a key figure at Elland Road since leaving Stamford Bridge in 2023. Leeds underlined his importance in June by handing him a new contract that runs until 2030.

Reports that Chelsea are monitoring Ampadu’s progress have prompted suggestions of a possible reunion, but Leeds are understood to be determined to retain the midfielder and defender.
Chelsea are not expected to make a serious approach in the immediate future, meaning the speculation has not yet developed into a formal transfer pursuit.
Leeds have little reason to consider weakening their squad. Ampadu was appointed captain after helping the club return to the Premier League and made 35 top-flight appearances last season.
His contribution was recognised with both the club’s Player of the Year award and the Players’ Player of the Year prize. By the time his contract extension was announced, he had already made 126 appearances for Leeds.
The 25-year-old has remained central to Daniel Farke’s plans this season. He started the 1-1 draw at Brighton and wore the armband when Leeds faced Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.
From Chelsea’s perspective, Ampadu’s versatility and Premier League experience make the interest understandable. He is capable of operating in midfield or central defence and would offer flexibility to a squad competing across multiple competitions.
Leeds, however, hold the stronger position. Ampadu is under contract for four more years, is captain and has become a prominent figure in the club’s current project.
Leeds began the campaign unbeaten in their opening four league matches before losing to Newcastle, having finished 14th last season. With Ampadu firmly established in the team, the club have no immediate sporting incentive to sell unless an exceptional offer arrives.
