Two people have died and two others have suffered serious injuries following a near head-on collision between two cars in Davenport, Florida, the Florida Highway Patrol has said.
The crash happened at about 11.55pm on Saturday, 19 September, on US Highway 17-92 near West James Street in Polk County.
Troopers said a Honda sedan driven by a 41-year-old man from Davenport was travelling south when it crossed into the northbound lanes. It then collided with a Nissan carrying three people.

The Nissan driver, a 37-year-old man from Kissimmee, and a 45-year-old Kissimmee woman who was travelling as a passenger later died from their injuries.
A 34-year-old man from Winter Haven, who was also in the Nissan, was seriously injured and taken to hospital. The Davenport man driving the Honda was also seriously hurt and was transported for treatment.
The Florida Highway Patrol has not said why the Honda crossed into the opposite lane. The investigation into the Polk County crash remains ongoing.
