Juventus have joined Manchester United in the race for Crystal Palace left-back Tyrick Mitchell, with Liverpool also understood to be monitoring the 27-year-old’s situation.
Mitchell has emerged as a potential option for United as they assess how to strengthen the left side of their defence. His contract position is understood to be a significant factor in the interest surrounding him.
Juventus consider Tyrick Mitchell as a left-back option
According to Tuttosport, Mitchell has been offered to Juventus as the Italian club considers additions at left-back. David Raum is another player under consideration, although Mitchell’s experience in the Premier League is believed to be an attraction.
Mitchell is expected to be available on a free transfer at the end of the season. Juventus could instead look to make a move in January in an attempt to beat competition from clubs in England.
Manchester United’s interest has been strengthened by the positive assessment of former chief scout Mick Brown, who has praised Mitchell’s consistency, defensive reliability and progress in attack.
Liverpool are also keeping watch on developments, giving Palace a potentially competitive market for a player who has established himself as a dependable presence on the left.
Mitchell has made a strong start to the season, featuring for 329 Premier League minutes across four matches. He has scored twice, with both goals coming in Palace’s 3-2 victory over Fulham.
He was also among Palace’s most-used players last season, appearing in 38 league matches and completing 3,251 minutes.
For United, Mitchell would offer Premier League experience and the ability to operate as either a conventional left-back or in a more advanced role. His potential availability for a reduced fee in January, or for nothing next summer, could make him a comparatively low-risk addition.
