A man has died after falling from the Goliath rollercoaster at Six Flags Over Georgia, prompting officials to evacuate the theme park.
The incident happened on Monday at the ride, which is the tallest rollercoaster in the state. It remains unclear what caused the man to fall.
Witness Cody Alcorn claimed the man struck the rollercoaster car three times as he fell. He said the incident was also captured in a souvenir photograph taken during the ride.
“He fell and hit the car three different times,” Mr Alcorn said.
Riders were left stranded on an incline after the rollercoaster was shut down. Workers subsequently evacuated them four at a time, helping them from the cars on to an adjacent stairway.
The Goliath opened at the park in 2006. It reaches speeds of up to 70mph and has an elevation of 200 feet.
