The Manly Boat Harbour in Brisbane’s south-east was evacuated after a fire engulfed two boats on Monday afternoon.
Emergency services were called shortly after 3pm, following reports of thick black smoke rising from the marina over the nearby Royal Esplanade. Fire crews arrived at about 3.20pm and located the blaze on the eastern side of the harbour, on a spit extending from the shore.
Police cleared the marina while firefighters worked to contain the fire. One of the burning vessels was close to a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) bottle.
The blaze was brought under control about 20 minutes after emergency crews arrived, with firefighters extinguishing it at approximately 3.45pm.
Paramedics reported that nobody had been injured and remained at the scene while fire crews searched both vessels.
