The Indian Community School in Franklin, Wisconsin, will remain closed until Monday after police said a man allegedly pointed a handgun at a member of staff during a dispute over landscaping.
Officers were called shortly before 4pm on Wednesday following a disagreement over work being carried out along a property boundary near the school.
According to the Franklin Police Department, a 62-year-old Franklin man allegedly aimed the weapon at a 51-year-old school employee, aged 51. He was arrested and taken to Milwaukee County Jail on suspicion of recklessly endangering safety.
No injuries were reported. Police said the investigation remained ongoing.
Indian Community School closure
School officials cancelled all on-campus activities from Thursday through Sunday, with lessons and events due to resume on Monday, September 21. Off-campus activities were expected to continue as planned.
In a message to families, the Indian Community School said the dispute had escalated into a credible threat against a staff member and that closing was the safest option for pupils, employees and the wider community.
The school said the closure would allow officers to complete their work while administrators reviewed security measures and strengthened protections on the campus.
Officials added that they were working closely with Franklin Police and would provide families and staff with further information as it became available.
