A Jet2 flight was evacuated at Tenerife South Airport after a passenger claimed to have a bomb in their luggage.
Flight 1536 was due to leave for London Stansted at 11.20am when the incident occurred. The aircraft was cleared while Spanish Civil Guard officers dealt with the threat.
After a delay of around two hours, the other passengers were allowed to board again. The flight eventually departed at about 1.45pm local time and landed at Stansted at around 6pm.
It remains unclear whether the passenger who made the claim was arrested.
Jet2 said: “We can confirm that customers were asked to disembark a flight at Tenerife South Airport yesterday following an incident involving a passenger onboard.
“Customers have since reboarded and the flight has now landed at London Stansted as planned.
“We would like to apologise to everyone onboard for the delay and any inconvenience caused.”
