John Cena arrived at Nationals Park with a police escort before delivering the game ball for the first Banana Bowl championship in Washington DC.
The wrestling star travelled in a military-style Humvee, with police leading the way as the Savannah Bananas prepared to face the Texas Tailgaters in the inaugural Banana Ball Championship League final.
Cena’s appearance was part of the pre-match spectacle rather than a wrestling event. The Savannah Bananas have become known for combining baseball with choreographed entertainment, elaborate entrances and unexpected performances.
The championship was the first Banana Bowl, staged at the home of the Washington Nationals. The Bananas and the Texas Tailgaters were competing for the league’s inaugural title.
Cena has previously appeared alongside the Savannah Bananas, joining the team for an exhibition game in 2024. He also took an at-bat during that appearance, which ended in a strikeout amid wrestling-style theatrics.
The Texas Tailgaters went on to win the championship, edging the Savannah Bananas 2-1 to claim the first Banana Bowl title.
