Macklemore has been photographed taking a quiet walk with his parents in Seattle after his dismissal from Ed Sheeran’s tour.
The rapper appeared subdued as the three chatted in a neighbourhood on Wednesday, keeping a low profile amid the controversy surrounding his removal from the tour.
Macklemore was wearing a purple Real Madrid jersey, a choice that has drawn attention because of the Spanish club’s recent response to a political dispute involving several of its players.
Before a Tuesday match, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr obscured political messages on shirts provided by the club, while team-mate Ibrahima Konate refused to wear his.
Real Madrid did not discipline the players. Instead, the club said it supported differing opinions and allowed each individual to decide whether to wear the shirt.
The response has been contrasted with the treatment of Macklemore, who was removed from Sheeran’s tour after Robert Kraft and fellow NFL owners accused him of crossing the line with antisemitic rhetoric and imagery.
Kraft has received support from Dave Portnoy and Republican representative Randy Fine. Macklemore, meanwhile, has been backed by Aaron Rowe, Finneas and other artists involved in the tour, as well as two members of Congress.
Since his dismissal, Macklemore has donated 1 million dollars to Palestinians. Kraft has donated a further 2 million dollars in aid to the region.
