A Minnesota woman’s mugshot has attracted widespread attention because of her resemblance to Jennifer Lopez, after she was arrested over the alleged theft of power-tool batteries.
Cyrena Anne Quast, 35, was arrested on a gross misdemeanour theft charge following an incident at a store in Monticello on 30 August. She is accused of taking two double packs of batteries worth $578.
The photograph taken by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office prompted users online to compare Quast with the American actress and singer.
One person wrote that they had “definitely thought it was JLo”, while another joked: “If it was J-Lo she should have been charged with stealing vocals.”
The attention on Quast’s appearance has come alongside scrutiny of her previous contact with police. Records show she has been arrested dozens of times in connection with allegations including drug possession, DWI, theft, giving a false name, fleeing police, driving without a valid licence and trespassing.
In the latest case, an employee at the Monticello shop reported that a woman had left with the batteries and driven away in a white Subaru. Police were given a description of the vehicle and its registration number.
Quast was released the following day without bail, but must comply with conditions imposed by the court while the case proceeds.
Friends and other users on social media have also commented on the perceived resemblance to Lopez beneath posts featuring Quast.
