‘Nepo babies’ Kaia Gerber and Homer Gere followed in the footsteps of their world-famous parents as they posed together on the cover of Vogue.
Kaia’s mother Cindy Crawford was married to Homer’s father Richard Gere from 1991 to 1995 when they were at the height of their stardom. The pair fronted Vogue together in November 1992.
After their divorce, Crawford, 60, married businessman Rande Gerber, 64, and the pair welcomed Kaia and son Presley, now 27.
Meanwhile Gere, 76, had Homer with his second ex-wife Carey Lowell, 65, a one-time Bond girl he was married to from 2002 until 2016.
TV writer and producer Ryan Murphy has united Homer and Kaia for the cast of his new show The Shards, which he co-created with acclaimed novelist Bret Easton Ellis.
Now, Kaia, 24, and Homer, 26, have revealed how they approached the elephant in the room of their parents’ doomed romance, in a cover interview for Vogue.
Homer shared that the pair first met at a Los Angeles watering hole, and he bluntly asked if they should ‘address the fact that our parents were married’. Kaia is said to have simply responded: ‘Yeah, cool’ – at which point they let the matter drop.
The Daily Mail has contacted Gere and Crawford’s representatives for comment.

The first meeting between Homer and Kaia came after they were tapped for The Shards, when they met with some of their co-stars at Ye Rustic Inn, a nightspot in Los Feliz, LA, that has stood for more than half a century.
‘That’s Kaia’s spot. It’s, like, her chill I’m-gonna-go-have-a-beer-and-smoke-a-cig-outside spot,’ Homer recalled in the September issue of Vogue.
‘Twenty minutes into knowing each other, I was like: “Should we just acknowledge the fact that our parents were married?” She was like: “Yeah. Cool.” And that was it.’
Homer also addressedhis casting opposite Kaia in The Shards, confessing frankly: ‘Maybe it seems too on the nose’.
Steven Meisel photographed Homer and Cindy for Vogue nearly 34 years after Crawford and Gere fronted the magazine’s November 1992 issue.
In their new shoot, Kaia looks the spitting image of her mother, enhanced by photos of her billowing dark hair and mega-watt smile.
Meanwhile, Homer wore blue jeans with a dress shirt, blazer and tie, echoing the distinctly 1990s casual glamour of his father.

Crawford and Gere’s Vogue cover was shot by the legendary Herb Ritts, at whose home the couple were first introduced during a barbecue in the late 1980s.
Since their split, Crawford admitted Gere had become ‘like a stranger’ to her, but she largely avoided discussing the breakdown of their relationship, writing in her memoir that the subject was ‘not something I want to share’ as ‘I wanted to be respectful’.
However, a source claimed to Globe: ‘They’re dropping their defenses and playing nice, and they’re doing it for the kids.’
When they first met, Crawford was 22 and her modeling career was on the ascent, while Gere was 37 and had already established himself as an A-list film star with releases like American Gigolo and An Officer And A Gentleman.
‘In the beginning of a relationship, when you’re a young woman, you’re like: “You like baseball? I like baseball. Oh, you’re really into Tibetan Buddhism? I might be into that. I’ll try that,”‘ she recalled in the docuseries The Super Models.
In 1991, the year after he co-starred with Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, Gere eloped with Crawford to Las Vegas, where they sealed their union with aluminium foil rings.
Their marriage went up in flames in 1995, and although Crawford has since described their relationship as a ‘great chapter in my life,’ she also candidly reflected that their age gap had opened a gulf between their sensibilities.
‘I think a lot of what happened with Richard and I was that I was still 22… As a young woman, I was kind of still figuring out who I was and what I wanted to be, and he was already 37,’ she told Oprah Winfrey in a 2013 interview on Master Class.
‘So in some ways, he knew that I was still growing and changing. I just didn’t want to hear it from him because at 22 you think you know everything. You think you’re already formed. And then you realize, ten years later, that they were totally right.’

In 1998, Crawford exchanged vows with Rande Gerber, who later became known for co-founding Casamigos with George Clooney and businessman Mike Meldman.
The pair remain married to this day, and their daughter has followed in her mother’s footsteps to forge a life in the public eye as a model and actress.
Gere is now on his third marriage, this time to Spanish publicist Alejandra Silva, who, at the age of 43, is 33 years her husband’s junior.
Kaia is currently in a relationship with yet another ‘nepo baby,’ Lewis Pullman, the dashing son of Sleepless in Seattle actor Bill Pullman.
Meanwhile, Homer, who recently acted with Sydney Sweeney on Euphoria, has kept a veil of privacy drawn over the subject of his own love life.
Homer and Kaia’s new show, The Shards, is based on Bret Easton Ellis’s 2023 novel of the same name, a roman à clef about his upscale drug-suffused prep school.
With a cast that includes Igby Rigney as Ellis and Evan Rachel Wood in a supporting role, the series premiered on both FX and Hulu on August 5.
