Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen made a rare joint appearance in New York on Tuesday, 8 September, as the fashion world gathered for New York Fashion Week.
The 40-year-old twins, who now run the luxury label The Row, were seen during a low-key outing ahead of the shows. Their brand is not scheduled to present a collection in New York this season.
Mary-Kate wore a flowing black top with relaxed-fit jeans and strappy leather sandals, while Ashley opted for a white T-shirt, loose black shorts and a jumper draped around her neck. Both wore sunglasses and had their brunette hair parted in the middle.
The sisters were photographed leaving an office building, carrying additional clothing and keeping a deliberately understated profile. Their appearance came as renewed attention focused on their relationship with former Full House cast members.
The Row is due to present its spring/summer 2027 collection in Paris on 30 September, according to the official Paris Fashion Week calendar. The fashion house was founded by the twins in 2006 and has since become their principal professional focus.
Mary-Kate and Ashley began sharing the role of Michelle Tanner as infants on Full House, appearing alongside Bob Saget, John Stamos, Jodie Sweetin and Candace Cameron Bure. The sitcom ran for eight seasons between 1987 and 1995.
Sweetin, who played Stephanie Tanner, recently addressed speculation about the twins’ relationship with their former co-stars during an appearance on Taboo’s Comics and Kicks podcast.
“Everyone’s on good terms with them, but they were eight years old when this show stopped,” she said, explaining that the sisters had experienced the programme differently because they were so young when filming ended.
Sweetin also said she understood why the twins declined to return for Netflix’s Fuller House, which ran from 2016 to 2020.
“They don’t want attention and I get it,” she said. “They had so much and were so invaded and so for public consumption, I totally understand why they don’t wanna do that.”
The Olsen twins stepped away from acting in their late teens and have maintained a notably private life ever since, rarely appearing together in public despite their continued work as co-designers of The Row.
