A search is continuing in Southfield, Michigan, for missing 29-year-old Christian Cook, whose family says she went out for a walk and did not return.
Cook was last seen at about 1.30pm on Sunday, September 13. She lives near Eleven Mile and Inkster roads and is known to walk in the area, according to her family.
They believe she stopped at a nearby 7-Eleven and may later have gone to Pebble Creek Park, more than a mile away. Cook is a published author.
Southfield Police said search teams were deployed after officers spoke to her family. A police drone and the Lapeer County Search and Rescue Team were used, while a canine team followed a scent towards the Rouge River.
Search and rescue personnel from the Southfield Fire Department, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office and Lapeer County returned to the area on Wednesday. Sonar equipment detected a large mass in the water, but divers found only debris and no sign of Cook.
Cook is described as 6ft tall and weighing about 165lb, with brown eyes and black hair. She was last seen wearing a mid-calf-length black dress with white polka dots and blue and grey moccasins.
Southfield Police have asked anyone with information about Cook’s whereabouts to call 248-796-5500.
