Kelly Osbourne and her mother Sharon are reportedly barely speaking, with political differences said to have deepened a growing rift within the family following Ozzy Osbourne’s death.
The pair had appeared inseparable since the Black Sabbath singer died in July 2025, supporting one another through their grief and attending this year’s Brit Awards together to accept his posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award.
But Kelly, 41, is now said to be distancing herself from both Sharon and her older brother Jack while establishing a new life in the UK with her three-year-old son, Sidney.
Friends and sources close to the family claim the disagreement is partly rooted in politics. Kelly is described as liberal and supportive of LGBT causes, while Sharon, 73, is said to hold considerably more right-wing views and to be a strong supporter of Donald Trump.
“They’ve been through a lot, and Ozzy’s passing really united the family publicly, but they’ve also become very separate and very different people,” one source said.
“Kelly sees herself as very liberal, woke and modern, the rest of her family are more conservative leaning, and they’ve clashed a lot, she couldn’t be more different to her mum and brother right now.”
Kelly addressed the tension this week while attending the National Television Awards in London, saying she did not agree with her mother’s political views.
“It’s hard because I love my mum, but I also have to understand that she’s entitled to her own opinions as well,” she said. “And it’s really hard when it comes to politics and things like that, but that’s not for me.”
Sharon is understood to have attended the Unite The Kingdom march in London earlier this year. Kelly, meanwhile, has been appearing at events without members of her family and was photographed at the opening of a rooftop restaurant in Manchester this week alongside Coronation Street actors and local DJs.

She is believed to have bought a rural home in Buckinghamshire, where she intends to raise Sidney. Sharon continues to divide her time between the family’s mansion in Los Angeles and Welders House in Buckinghamshire, where Ozzy is buried.
Kelly’s move comes after a difficult 15 months. She has spoken about the impact of her father’s death, saying that “a part of me died, too” after he suffered a cardiac arrest.
Her grief was followed by a significant loss of weight, social media trolling and accusations that she had used the weight-loss drug Ozempic. Those claims were described in the source material as unfounded.
In March, Kelly also separated from her fiancé, Slipknot DJ Sid Wilson, the father of her son. Friends have described the break-up as difficult and dramatic.
Kelly appeared to refer to the dispute in angry Instagram posts last month. “Wake up and take responsibility,” she wrote. “I’m done. I want to be happy and I have a beautiful son to raise.”
In a separate post, she added: “Also while I’m at it can I have my dogs back and all my possessions. Oh yeah and maybe some child support?”
Sharon had been a major source of support for her daughter after the separation, according to a friend. “Sharon is the most loyal woman you could have on your side and she has always been there for her,” the friend said.
However, Kelly is now said to be facing life as a single mother without the close support of either a partner or her mother. She has also made clear that she is not desperate to receive a share of the estimated £200 million estate Sharon took control of after Ozzy’s death.
Instead, she has begun building a presence on the UK showbusiness circuit. In recent months she has attended events for Vivienne Westwood and Louis Vuitton, visited a London art gallery and appeared at Royal Ascot with designer Karen Millen.
She has also been seen at a cocktail party for Rebecca Vallance and a Fortnum & Mason launch. Kelly recently signed with showbusiness management agency Keye Talent, whose clients include Freddie Brazier and Lottie Tomlinson.
Fees for her appearances are confidential, although sources claim brands may pay about £10,000 for some celebrity appearances. One source said the events were providing Kelly with a way to earn money while setting up her new life independently of her family.
Friends say she is enjoying the contrast between her current home in the countryside and the Beverly Hills mansion where she grew up.
“She has changed, she enjoys the more simple things in life and is taking great pride in earning her own money,” another source said. “She has taken control which is great but at the same time she has distanced herself from Sharon at a time when they probably need one another the most.”
