A Sydney high school teacher has been charged over an alleged murder conspiracy linked to the fatal shooting of a man in the city’s west.
Ashleigh Ann Seeney, 28, a PE teacher at Airds High School, is accused of helping those involved in the death of 40-year-old Joshua Macdonald, who was shot outside a home in Merrylands West.
Police believe Mr Macdonald was mistaken for someone else when he was attacked on Bruce Street at about 3.15pm on September 2. CCTV allegedly shows a car stopping outside the property before a gunman fired several shots through its rear window.
Two men, aged 18 and 19, were arrested in West Hoxton on September 11. Police allege a drone found during the investigation implicated the 18-year-old as the suspected gunman.
Seeney was initially arrested at a unit in Wollongong on Friday. Police allege she carried out surveillance for those involved in the shooting and helped them escape afterwards.
She was charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder, participating in a criminal group and failing to comply with a digital evidence access order. She was granted bail on those charges.
Seeney was arrested again on Tuesday and faced court the following day on three further charges, including conspiracy to murder, participating in a criminal group and failing, as an owner, to disclose the identity of a driver or passenger.
Her previous bail was revoked and she will remain in custody until her next court appearance on November 19.
The NSW Department of Education said Seeney had been stood down from Airds High School while police investigated the allegations.
“The Department has acted promptly and will continue to fully cooperate with NSW Police,” a spokesperson said.
