Taliban spokesperson Abdul Qahar Balkhi has addressed the group’s claims of peace and stability in Afghanistan in an interview five years after its return to power.
Speaking to CBS News’ Imtiaz Tyab, Mr Balkhi discussed the country’s continuing humanitarian crisis and restrictions affecting women and girls.
The interview also covered US military hardware left in Afghanistan and assets frozen by the United States, as well as the prospects for future relations between Washington and the Taliban.
Mr Balkhi was also questioned about lessons from two decades of war and the Taliban’s account of Afghanistan’s situation since returning to power.
