A second trailer has been released for Werwulf, the new film directed, written and produced by Robert Eggers, alongside the launch of an alternate reality game tied to the project.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson leads the cast, with Lily-Rose Depp and Willem Dafoe also starring. Ralph Ineson and Bodhi Rae Breathnach complete the principal cast named for the film.
Werwulf trailer offers glimpse of dark tale
Plot details remain limited, although the trailer presents the film as a story centred on devotion, damnation and an inner evil.
Focus Features describes Werwulf as “a harrowing tale of devotion, damnation and the devil within” and calls it Robert Eggers’ “most visceral and haunting experience yet”.
The film is due to arrive in cinemas on 25 December.
Alternate reality game launches alongside trailer
The accompanying game is designed to immerse fans in the world of Werwulf and will run across the full moons from September to November, culminating in a mysterious prize for those who complete all three stages.
Participants must find a hidden “sign” on different digital platforms and decipher it as part of each stage. The sign remains available for only 24 hours during each full moon before disappearing.
