Alexia Umansky has said she was “taken advantage of” by a trusted friend during a trip seven years ago, revealing the experience to her father, Mauricio Umansky, on the Fox series Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.
The 30-year-old, who is the daughter of Kyle Richards, said she had never previously told her family about what happened. She is appearing on the programme alongside Mauricio.
Alexia Umansky describes the experience
Speaking to a directing staff member during Thursday night’s episode, Alexia said she had been travelling with friends when she was put to bed after drinking too much.
“I woke up and I could tell something had happened,” she said. “I didn’t even have the power or consciousness to say no. I felt completely objectified.”
Alexia said the incident had left her with “a lot of pain and anger”, adding that she had tried to move on when its first anniversary arrived, although “it still hurts”.
In a private interview, she said: “I was taken advantage of. My family, to this day, does not know.”
She explained that involving other people would have made the incident “more of a conversation”, and said she had not been ready to have that discussion until appearing on the programme.
Alexia later told the other contestants in their bunk, with Mauricio present, that the experience had been “the hardest thing I ever went through”.
“I was taken advantage of by a friend,” she said, adding that she had wanted to protect her family from knowing about it.
Mauricio responded: “I don’t know why you would feel like you would need to protect us from that.”
Alexia said she had since healed and had “come a long way” since the incident.
She married her longtime partner, Jake Zingerman, just over a year ago. The pair began dating in 2019.
