At least one person is believed to have died and several others were injured after a bus and car collided on the Melba Highway in Glenburn, north-east of Melbourne.
Emergency services were called to the crash at about 2.40pm on Thursday, roughly 100km from the city.
Footage from the scene showed the car badly crushed and pushed off the road, while the bus had veered into an embankment. People were seen stranded on the highway.
Witnesses reported that a number of vehicles were involved in the collision, although the full circumstances remain unclear.
The Melba Highway has been closed in both directions, with traffic being diverted towards Yea.
The crash is the third serious collision on the stretch of road in a matter of days. Emergency services remain at the scene as investigations continue.
