Lauren Boebert has rejected an ethics complaint alleging that she had sexual relationships with three current and former staff members and paid $200,000 in hush money.
The complaint was filed earlier this week by David Wheeler with the House Committee on Ethics. The allegations have not been substantiated in the material provided.
A representative for the Colorado congresswoman said she “rejects these allegations as utterly false and there is no truth to them whatsoever”.
They added: “This is nothing more than a politically motivated stunt designed to manipulate the ethics process, create headlines, smear her, and generate clickbait.”
Boebert’s representative also described Wheeler as an activist who had “long recycled sensational claims”, including “numerous baseless accusations previously fact-checked as false”.
Wheeler did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Boebert’s denial.
