Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy took aim at the New York Yankees moments after leading his team to their first World Series championship.
The Brewers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 at Tropicana Field to seal the Fall Classic in five games, prompting an emotional celebration on the field.
During the festivities, first baseman Jake Bauers handed Murphy the ball from the final out. The 67-year-old manager embraced him before delivering a pointed message about his former club.
“You’re going to be a rich f*****, but just remember when you were on that horses*** Yankees team and you guys were all playing for yourself, just remember, say, ‘This is the way we used do it,” Murphy told Bauers.
Bauers played for the Yankees in 2023 before being traded to Milwaukee.
The 31-year-old is now set to enter free agency after a breakthrough season in which he hit a career-high 26 home runs while playing on a one-year, 2.7 million dollar deal.
He was also named National League Championship Series MVP after the Brewers swept the Los Angeles Dodgers.
