The San Francisco Bay Area is set for the second and final day of a warm spell on Thursday, with temperatures expected to range from the upper 60s along the coast to the low 90s inland.
Inland valleys are likely to see the hottest conditions, while coastal areas remain noticeably cooler under the influence of the Pacific. Areas around the bays are expected to fall between the two extremes.
The National Weather Service has identified pockets of moderate HeatRisk in parts of the interior, including areas near San Jose, the East Bay and the Santa Lucia range. Forecasters said the risk was not widespread enough to warrant a heat advisory.
Cooler conditions are expected to return from Friday as a weather system moves towards the West Coast, bringing temperatures closer to seasonal averages through the weekend.
