Manchester United came from behind to beat Ipswich Town 5-2 at Old Trafford, with Bruno Fernandes scoring a hat-trick in an emphatic first Premier League win of the season.
Ipswich took the lead in the 29th minute when Leif Davis finished after good work from Abdul Fatawu, leaving United facing another difficult afternoon following their opening-weekend defeat by Hull City.
Fernandes restored parity shortly before half-time, firing beyond the Ipswich goalkeeper after Matheus Cunha capitalised on a mistake in midfield.
United moved ahead 11 minutes into the second half when Jacob Greaves turned the ball into his own net. Fernandes then converted a penalty before completing his treble in the 68th minute.
Bryan Mbeumo added a fifth for Michael Carrick’s side in the 82nd minute, while Chuba Akpom scored a late consolation for Gary O’Neil’s visitors in stoppage time.
The result lifted Manchester United off the mark in the 2026-27 campaign, while Ipswich were left to reflect on a heavy defeat despite making a promising start at Old Trafford.
