Everton striker Beto is travelling to Florence to complete a reported £15 million move to Fiorentina, ending the Italian club’s pursuit of Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee.
The Portugal international is expected to undergo a medical before signing for Fiorentina, who need a replacement for Moise Kean after his proposed move to Como.
Fiorentina had been working on a loan deal for Zirkzee, but the proposed transfer has now stalled. The Netherlands international was reportedly open to a return to Serie A, having previously played for Bologna, although Manchester United did not agree to the terms on offer.
Juventus pursue Joshua Zirkzee
Juventus have since emerged as the leading Italian contenders for Zirkzee. They are understood to be proposing a loan fee of about £2 million, with an option to buy worth approximately £26 million.
Manchester United would prefer an obligation to buy, with the total value of the deal understood to be closer to £30 million. Talks could depend on Juventus resolving their own attacking options before the transfer deadline.
Zirkzee has been an unused substitute in United’s opening two league matches of the season, increasing speculation that he could leave Old Trafford before the window closes.
The Premier League window is due to shut at 11pm on Tuesday, September 1, leaving United and Juventus limited time to reach an agreement. Fiorentina, meanwhile, have switched their attention to Beto, with the striker expected in Florence to finalise the move.
