Chelsea have reportedly suffered a double transfer blow involving Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott and Manchester United teenager JJ Gabriel.
The Blues are understood to be interested in both players, but Scott is not expected to be available during the January window, while Gabriel is considered more likely to join a leading European club if he leaves Old Trafford.
A report by talkSPORT claims Chelsea have been told that Gabriel is looking towards a move abroad. The 16-year-old has attracted interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, as well as the Premier League club.
What next for Chelsea target JJ Gabriel?
Gabriel has only recently turned 16 but has already emerged as one of the most sought-after young players in the game. His potential has drawn attention despite his limited experience at senior level.
Chelsea have developed a reputation for recruiting promising young players from around the world, but the competition for Gabriel’s signature appears likely to take him away from England if he decides to leave Manchester United.
His potential departure would also disappoint United supporters, who will be watching closely to see how his career develops elsewhere.
Alex Scott transfer delayed until summer
Scott was a Chelsea target during the summer, but Bournemouth have no intention of allowing the 23-year-old to leave midway through the season.
The England international is nevertheless expected to attract continued interest beyond January. Chelsea see him as a possible fit for midfield after Enzo Fernandez was sold late in the summer, while Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton is also understood to be admired by the club.
Bournemouth have remained firm in their desire to retain Scott for another season. Even if Chelsea win the race for his signature, the transfer would therefore not be expected to take place until summer 2027.
