Presley Gerber, the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford, has died aged 27 at a rehabilitation facility in Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed that Gerber died on Sunday. His cause of death has not been disclosed.
The death comes after Gerber spoke publicly about his mental health and medication in a candid social media video last December.
He said he took buprenorphine for “night terrors” and “panic attacks”, and that his use of benzodiazepines had fluctuated according to what was happening in his life. He also mentioned taking Xanax and Valium.
“Unfortunately, I’ve had a lot of loss in many different forms recently, so that is not an excuse, but it’s the reason why I am where I’m at now,” he said.
Gerber added: “I feel like honesty is the best policy,” before discussing the medication he was taking and his efforts to understand his condition.

Last month, his sister Kaia Gerber, 24, described the effect of her brother’s drug use and mental health struggles on their family.
“When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone,” she said.
Kaia said Gerber’s difficulties had led her to see herself as “the easy one” and avoid asking for help.
“I think that’s also why I started to self-identify as the easy one and never wanted to ask for help. Because it felt like too much to have two children who were needing,” she said.
She described her brother’s openness as “refreshing”, saying: “There’s only so much you can hide from the world. And trying to put a lid on something just makes the person feel like you’re ashamed of them.”
Gerber’s parents are Crawford, 60, and businessman Rande Gerber, 64. In May, he paid tribute to his father in an Instagram post featuring the pair paddle boarding.
“I have the best father in the world. He’s never given up on me. He’s always there for me. Always has the best advice for me,” he wrote.
Crawford responded to the post with the words “My boys!”, while Rande Gerber wrote: “Sometimes we may fall but with a little help always get back up. I love you forever Prez.”
