A former Cornell University student who alleges she was gang-raped by members of the Chi Phi fraternity in October 2024 has told a university panel that she felt “prostituted” during the incident.
Jane Doe said she felt she had been used as “bait” for a group of men, according to a transcript of the panel hearing held several months after the alleged assault.
“I was prostituted, and I was held up like bait for a gaggle of men,” she said. “I remember a dark room with shadows of men in and out constantly. And I remember feeling like there was a joke and I was not in on it.”
She urged Cornell to remove the men she alleges raped her from campus, saying this would make the university community safer.
Allegations involving Cornell fraternity members
The case has also included video of two fraternity members who are not defendants in her civil lawsuit telling police they understood the sexual activity to have been consensual.
Matthew Ingalls, a Chi Phi member who was ultimately expelled from Cornell, has claimed that Jane Doe sodomised him on the night she alleges he sexually assaulted her.
Jane Doe has said the most distressing part of the night was when she was allegedly raped in a cupboard.
