Concrete chunks fell from the Lovers Lane overpass into the northbound lanes of Dallas’s Central Expressway on Wednesday morning, prompting police to close the far-right lane near Southern Methodist University.
The debris landed on US Highway 75, one of the city’s main commuter routes. Early reports indicated that no vehicles were struck.
Officers blocked the lane as a safety precaution while the concrete was dealt with. Drivers approaching the area were warned to expect disruption around the overpass.
It was not immediately clear what caused the concrete to fall, how long the closure would remain in place or whether emergency repairs to the Lovers Lane bridge would be required.
The incident was identified through traffic reports and Texas Department of Transportation camera footage.
