A driver who stopped to help after a minor collision was killed when a passing vehicle struck them on Interstate 35W in south Fort Worth, Texas, early on Friday, September 18.
Fort Worth police said the initial crash happened near Felix Street at about 2.30am. The driver had pulled over to assist those involved when they were hit by another vehicle.
The victim died at the scene. Police have not released their identity or provided further details about them.
It was not immediately clear whether the driver who struck the victim had been arrested. The circumstances of the collision remain under investigation.
All lanes of I-35W were closed for around four hours while emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene.
The northbound carriageway reopened at about 6.20am, followed by the southbound lanes roughly 20 minutes later.
