Everton have agreed a deal worth £40m to sign Folarin Balogun from Monaco, in a major late move to strengthen David Moyes’ forward line before the transfer window closes.
The 25-year-old United States international has emerged as a key target for the Toffees after they stepped up their pursuit of the former Arsenal striker. The agreement is understood to be with Monaco, with the transfer now moving towards completion.
Balogun joined Monaco from Arsenal in 2023 after a prolific loan spell at Reims, where he scored 22 goals in 39 appearances. He has since established himself as an important attacking player in France and has scored 31 goals in 91 appearances for Monaco across all competitions.
The striker was absent from Monaco’s squad for their 2-0 victory over Marseille on Sunday as negotiations with Everton progressed. His arrival would give Moyes another central striking option as the club reshapes its attack.
Everton’s move for Balogun comes as they prepare for Beto’s departure to Fiorentina. The Toffees have also been involved in discussions with Tottenham over a possible return for Richarlison, but Balogun’s proposed move represents a significant piece of business in its own right.
Balogun scored three goals for the United States at the 2026 World Cup and is expected to compete for a regular starting role at Everton once the formalities of the transfer have been completed.
