A potential Florian Wirtz and Michael Olise swap between Liverpool and Bayern Munich has been discussed by German journalist Christian Falk, although he stressed that several factors would need to fall into place before such a deal could become realistic.
Wirtz was wanted by Bayern before joining Liverpool, having established himself as one of Germany’s leading young players during his time with Bayer Leverkusen. The 23-year-old has yet to consistently reproduce his best form on Merseyside, though there have been signs of improvement at the start of this season.
Olise, meanwhile, has impressed since moving to Bayern and is already familiar with English football following his spell at Crystal Palace. His future could prove central to the situation, with Bayern keen to secure his long-term commitment.

Falk said Bayern’s previous interest in Wirtz was significant, pointing to two private meetings held before the midfielder chose Liverpool. He added that Liverpool manager Arne Slot played an important role in persuading the Germany international to move to Merseyside.
“Of course, there is a big history between FC Bayern and Wirtz. There were two secret meetings before he decided on Liverpool: the first one in Munich and then in Liverpool as well,” Falk wrote in his latest CF Bayern Insider column.
“At the time, Arne Slot persuaded the German international to switch to Merseyside. If there is such a connection, you’re always going to have rumours.”
Falk indicated that there is no concrete move for Wirtz at present. However, Bayern sporting director Max Eberl wants Olise to provide an indication next summer over whether he would be willing to sign a new contract, as the club do not want to risk losing him on a free transfer in 2029.
“Everyone at Bayern hopes that Michael Olise will play for the club for a long, long time. However, Max Eberl also told me in an interview that he wants a sign from the Frenchman next summer in terms of whether or not he can imagine signing a new contract. That’s because they can’t lose Olise on a free transfer in 2029,” Falk said.
Should Olise decide that he wants to leave, Falk believes Wirtz could become an attractive option for Bayern because of his versatility. The Liverpool player can operate centrally or in a wide position.
“Everyone is hoping the former Crystal Palace star signs a new contract, but if not, and he decides for a transfer, of course Florian Wirtz would be a player who’s interesting for Bayern Munich. The German can play on the side or centrally,” he added.
Falk suggested that Bayern could either explore a direct exchange with Liverpool or use a substantial fee from selling Olise to fund an offer for Wirtz.
“This would be a very interesting thing, and if you make a swap deal with Liverpool or sell Olise for a lot of money to Real Madrid, you have the money to make an offer for Wirtz,” he said.
“So, there are many, many positions which have to be discussed. I wouldn’t say it’s not true that Bayern Munich would have thought of that.”
Wirtz’s performances will also be significant to Liverpool’s stance. Having arrived for a considerable fee, he will be expected to deliver more consistently, while Olise’s contract position could determine whether the reported possibility develops beyond speculation.
