James Wehr’s family will hold a memorial for him at the South OC Cars and Coffee gathering in San Clemente, California, after he and Alexis “Lexi” Kramer died in a fiery car crash.
The event was organised by Wehr and his father, Simon, and will take place on Saturday morning. The family said it would also honour Kramer, whom it described as Wehr’s friend.
“Please join us as we remember our son James and his friend Lexi, who tragically lost their lives together,” the announcement said. “This Saturday, we will be gathering to remember and honor James, who meant so much to so many in the car community.”
Attendees have been encouraged to wear white trainers in tribute to the late car influencer.
The fatal car crash
Wehr and Kramer died after police said he lost control of his 2019 McLaren. Video showed the car encountering a wet patch on the road before attempting to slow down and turning sharply into a nearby tree.
The impact caused the car to catch fire, with footage showing flames engulfing the vehicle.
Wehr’s family referred to Kramer as his “friend”. Her family, however, has given a different account of their relationship, with one source claiming Wehr flew her to California and told her he was getting divorced from his wife. That claim has not been independently established, and the nature of their relationship remains unclear.
Wehr’s wife, Emma, has posted a tribute to him and has since hired an accident attorney.
