A Florida teen was seriously injured after a TikTok haircut stunt in the median of a busy Ocala road ended with him being hit by a pickup truck, police said.
Three young men, aged 18, 19 and 20, had placed a barber’s chair in the median on Sunday night while filming the stunt for social media, according to Ocala police.
Officers said a Chevrolet Silverado and a Lexus SUV collided nearby. The impact sent the pickup truck into the median, where it struck the 18-year-old as he sat in the chair.
The teenager was taken to hospital in serious condition.
One of the men filming described hearing tyres screech before the vehicles suddenly went airborne. He told a witness that there were “pancakes and flapjacks, flying”.
A witness said the group had considered filming the haircut in the road itself before deciding that the median would be safer.
Police said neither driver showed signs of impairment. Investigators are still examining whether either vehicle ran a red light or whether the drivers were distracted by the stunt.
The teenagers are not facing charges because filming on the median is not illegal, although police warned against risking lives to create social media content.
