A Fort Worth barbershop owner has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a child, as police investigate whether other young people may have been victims.
Hugo Jimenez Rodriguez is accused of committing the alleged offences at Salon Hugo on East Lancaster Avenue in Fort Worth, Texas. He faces charges of sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child by contact.
The alleged incident took place on Friday, 4 September, according to Fort Worth police. The department announced Rodriguez’s arrest on Tuesday, 22 September.
Police have not released details about the child involved or disclosed what they say happened inside the barbershop at 4075 East Lancaster Avenue.
Detectives from the Fort Worth Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit believe there may be additional victims, particularly among Spanish-speaking children.
Anyone with information, or anyone who believes they may have been affected, is asked to contact Detective Lopez on 682-382-1509. Police said support and other resources are available to people who choose to come forward.
The allegations have not been tested in court. Rodriguez is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
