Fremantle College has temporarily transformed itself into a Dockers stronghold ahead of the 2026 AFL Grand Final, announcing plans to change its name, school song and uniform for one day.
In a satirical “breaking news” video shared on Thursday, principal Stan Koios said the arrangements followed 48 hours of fictional negotiations involving conference calls, strategy meetings, lawyers, advisers and “several packets of Tim Tams”.
“I’m here to set the record straight. The truth is for the last 48 hours I’ve been involved in some very serious negotiations,” Mr Koios said.
He said the proposal had been approved by Western Australia Premier Roger Cook. For one day, the school would be known as Fremantle Dockers College, its official song would be replaced by “other Fremantle legend” ACDC, and students and staff would be allowed to wear purple.
Mr Koios also addressed the purpose behind the initiative, saying the school had agreed to support the Dockers’ major charity partner, the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
The Fremantle College community has been encouraged to wear purple and bring a gold coin donation to support the charity.
