Alejandro Garnacho reportedly wants to make his Aston Villa loan permanent, despite making only three Premier League substitute appearances since joining the club from Chelsea.
The Argentina international moved to Villa Park for the season after just one campaign at Stamford Bridge. His Chelsea spell followed a £40 million transfer from Manchester United in 2025 but did not develop as expected.
Garnacho has played only 31 minutes in the Premier League under Unai Emery so far, yet Aston Villa remain hopeful that his situation will improve as the season progresses.
Garnacho targeting permanent Aston Villa move
According to reports, the 22-year-old would prefer to establish himself at Villa rather than return to Chelsea next summer. His attitude and work in training are understood to have encouraged those close to the club, despite his limited involvement in matches.
The loan agreement is reported to include a route to a permanent transfer worth around €50 million, with the deal dependent on Garnacho making a sufficient number of appearances.
Aston Villa are said to expect those conditions to be met, even though the winger has yet to secure a regular place in Emery’s side.
Chelsea’s position also appears to leave open the possibility of a permanent departure. When confirming the loan, the club stated that the agreement included an obligation for the transfer to become permanent if certain criteria were fulfilled.
Garnacho’s immediate challenge is to earn more minutes and demonstrate the direct attacking form that has marked earlier stages of his career. If he can do so, Villa Park could provide the settled platform he needs to revive his progress and secure a long-term move.
