Hugh Jackman is offering Bilt members the chance to win a month without paying rent, as his Manhattan apartment remains on the market for roughly AU$40 million.
The Australian actor has joined Bilt founder Ankur Jain for the company’s “Rent Free” game show, in which celebrity participants help determine how many members receive rent-free prizes.
The promotion forms part of a wider partnership between Bilt and Global Citizen, ahead of the Global Citizen Festival at New York’s Central Park on September 26. Jackman, a Global Citizen ambassador, is due to host the event, which is expected to draw about 60,000 people.
Three Bilt members and their guests will also have the opportunity to win an all-expenses-paid VIP weekend in New York, including flights, hotel accommodation and access to the festival’s Great Lawn.
Bilt said members would be able to redeem points for general admission tickets, with proceeds donated to Global Citizen. They will also be able to give their points directly to the organisation, while proceeds from a limited co-branded collection will support its work tackling extreme poverty.
Hugh Jackman’s New York apartment remains unsold
The rent giveaway comes as Jackman’s five-bedroom New York residence remains available for US$28.75 million, just under AU$40 million. The actor and his former wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, bought the property for US$21 million in 2008.
The apartment was first offered for sale in 2022 for US$38.9 million before being withdrawn. It was later marketed as a rental for US$125,000 a month, but returned to the sales market in March, according to Realtor.com.
Located in a building designed by architect Richard Meier, the three-storey property covers about 11,000 square feet and includes Hudson River views, a double-height living room, several en-suite bedrooms, a professional kitchen, sauna, gym and private terrace.
