Indiana Democrat candidate Jaime West has delivered a heated anti-MAGA tirade at a forum for candidates standing for Fayette County Council, claiming she has received death threats before warning: “We have guns too.”
West is running for the District 4 seat in Fayette County, Indiana. During the general election candidates’ forum, she was asked which policy she would support that might benefit the county but prove unpopular with voters.
After considering the question, West said she wanted to “fire all MAGA Republicans”. She described them as racist and dumb, and said she did not like being around them.
Her response went on to blame Republicans for the state’s problems. She also claimed she had been repeatedly threatened by people on the political right.
At the end of the exchange, West looked directly into the camera and said: “We have guns too.”
West appeared to slur some of her words during the discussion and struggled to remain focused. She was contacted for comment about the interview and what may have caused her speech difficulties, but no response had been received.
The remarks come with Election Day three weeks away, as political candidates face renewed pressure over the tone of their campaign rhetoric.
